DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

John Schaap, Director of Engineering at Bennett Environmental, brings over almost three decades of experience in civil and agricultural engineering to the team. With a strong focus on dairy and food processing wastewater treatment and renewable energy projects, John is at the forefront of utilizing the company's proprietary technology to drive innovative and sustainable solutions. 

Mr. Schaap's remarkable career is marked by a deep-rooted commitment to his field, as well as an extensive track record in design, permitting, and regulatory compliance across a wide spectrum of projects. His portfolio includes serving as a planning commissioner in Kings County (California), demonstrating his in-depth knowledge of California’s Central Valley and dedication to supporting the agricultural community. 

John's academic background includes a Master of Science in Biological & Agricultural Engineering from the University of California, Davis, and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. 

He is a registered Civil and Agricultural Engineer in California and a Professional Engineer in Colorado. John's affiliations include the California Agricultural Leadership Program (class of 39), American Society of Agricultural & Biological Engineers (ASABE), and membership in the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society.

John is an active member of his local church and dedicated to spending time with his family. He enjoys hiking and a variety of outdoor hobbies and activities.
