Differential Advantages

  • Produces an average of 18 MMBTU per milk cow per year (about 50% more than covered lagoon).

  • Heated tanks with optimized heat exchange technology achieving year-round consistent gas production.

  • Viable option for flushed dairies in cold northern climates.

  • Optimized process technology featuring unique mixing and solids management to provide robust, reliable performance.

  • Handles continuous flow; not a batch process.

  • Wasted sludge is routinely and easily removed for utilization (such as compost or land application).

  • Validated process model for designing reactor size and predicting biogas production based on influent characteristics.

  • Handles wastewater ranging from highly soluble to significant particulate COD fraction.

  • Above ground tank-based system suited for flushed dairy operations.

Designed to handle dilute wastewater with greater than 100 gallons of wastewater per cow per day.

Performance

Solids retained in the system while liquids digest and pass through quickly.

  • Two days, or slightly more, Hydraulic Retention Time (HRT). The system is not HRT limited.

  • 2.6+ kg COD/m3/day Organic Loading Rate demonstrated on flushed dairy manure with nearly complete digestion of the biodegradable fraction.

  • 17-20 days Solids Retention Time (SRT) achieved for optimal digestion.

AMBREVO™ advantages over covered lagoon digester approach

  • Incremental project net present value (NPV) from $4.3M to $6.9M (based on 3800 flushed milk cow dairy).

  • Similar capital cost as a properly sized lagoon but on a smaller footprint.

  • Optimizes gas upgrading system by eliminating need to design for excessive peak summer flows and lower winter production.

  • Efficient effluent heat recovery and low electrical use.

  • Continuous handling and use of waste anaerobic sludge.

Advantages over continuousLY stirred tank reactor (CSTR) digester technology

  • Incremental project net present value (NPV) from $800,000 to $5.5M depending on manure dilution (based on 4000 flushed milk cow dairy).

  • Operations cost savings ranging from $120,000 to $600,000 per year (depending on manure dilution).

  • Reduced capital cost with smaller total reactor volume and potentially fewer reactor tanks.

  • Increased efficiency and value with more highly dilute manure, particularly for 100 gallons/milk cow/day or more.
